Funnels

Track how visitors progress through a series of steps, from landing page to conversion, and see exactly where they drop off.

What are funnels?

A funnel is an ordered sequence of steps, such as a landing page, then a pricing page, then a signup event. Reignat counts how many visitors reach each step in order and shows the conversion rate and drop-off at every stage. Funnels live under /<your-domain>/funnels in your dashboard.

Funnels are built from the same analytics events you already collect, so there is nothing extra to install. Event steps do require that you send those events (see Custom events and Transactions).

Create a funnel

Open the Funnels page for your project and:

  1. Click Create funnel.
  2. Give the funnel a name (up to 80 characters).
  3. Click Add step, pick a step type, and enter its value.
  4. Add between 2 and 8 steps. Drag the handle to reorder them.
  5. Click Create funnel to save and open the report.

For pageview and exit steps, Reignat suggests existing paths from your traffic as you type. You can edit or delete a funnel later from the menu on its report.

Step order matters. A visitor only advances to a step if they matched the previous step earlier in the same session, so list your steps in the order they should happen.

Step types

Each step is one of four types:

Pageview

path

Matches a visit to an exact page path, for example /pricing.

Exit page

path

Matches when a visitor leaves from an exact page path, for example /checkout.

Event

event name

Matches a custom event or transaction by its exact name, for example signup_completed.

Outbound

domain or URL

Matches an outbound click to an external domain, for example example.com.

Reading the results

The funnel report shows:

  • Visitors who entered the funnel (reached step one).
  • Conversion rate, the share of those visitors who completed every step.
  • Per-step conversion and drop-off on the funnel chart. Step one is always 100 percent, and each later step is measured against the step before it.
  • A breakdown of funnel entrants by referrer and country.

Conversions are counted per session. A visitor counts once per step in the selected period, even if they return multiple times.

Filters and periods

Use the period selector to change the date range, including custom ranges. You can also filter the funnel by referrer, country, browser, and operating system, each with an is or is not operator. Active filters appear as chips you can remove.

Notes

  • A funnel needs at least 2 steps and allows up to 8.
  • Step values are matched exactly, so /pricing and /pricing/ are different paths.
  • Event and outbound steps only count if you actually send those events from your site.
